Pupil Committees

We believe in giving pupils a voice and encouraging them to take responsibility for making positive changes. Our committees help children develop leadership skills and work together to improve our school community.

 
 

eco school Committee

The Eco Committee is a group of pupils dedicated to looking after our environment. They work on projects that make our school more sustainable, such as:

  • Reducing waste and promoting recycling.

  • Saving energy and water around the school.

  • Planting and caring for gardens and wildlife areas.

  • Organising events like litter picks and “Walk to School” days.

  • Encouraging everyone to think about how we can protect our planet.

The Eco Committee meets regularly to share ideas and plan activities that help our school become greener and more eco-friendly.

Buddies Committee

The Buddies Committee is made up of pupils who help make playtimes and lunchtimes happy and safe for everyone. Their role is to support and encourage positive friendships across the school.

What they do:

  • Welcome new pupils and help them settle in.

  • Play games with children who might feel lonely.

  • Encourage kindness and teamwork during playtimes.

  • Help resolve small disagreements in a friendly way.

  • Share ideas with staff to make playtimes fun for everyone.

The Buddies Committee meets regularly to plan activities and make sure everyone feels included and valued.

Healthy school Committee

The Healthy Schools Committee helps everyone in our school make healthy choices and feel their best. The committee works on projects that promote physical health, mental wellbeing, and healthy lifestyles. Their responsibilities include:

  • Encouraging healthy eating and drinking habits.

  • Organising activities that keep us active, such as fitness challenges and outdoor play.

  • Supporting mental health and wellbeing through positive messages and events.

  • Helping to create a safe, happy school environment where everyone feels included.

  • Working with staff to share ideas for making our school healthier.

The Healthy Schools Committee meets regularly to plan events and share tips that help our whole school community stay healthy and happy.

Safety Committee

The Safety Committee helps make sure our school is a safe and happy place for everyone - at school, at home, in the wider community, and online. The pupils in this committee work with staff to remind others about safety rules and share ideas for keeping ourselves and others safe.

What they do:

  • Encourage us to stay safe in school, at home, in the community, and online.

  • Promote safe play at break and lunchtime.

  • Share safety messages during assemblies or on posters.

  • Suggest improvements to make our school even safer.

  • Talk about important topics such as:

    • Road Safety

    • Sun Safety

    • Online Safety

  • Organise activities for events like Safer Internet Day.

The Safety Committee meets regularly to plan activities and make sure everyone knows how to stay safe in all areas of life.


Criw cymraeg committee

The Criw Cymraeg Committee is a group of pupils who help promote the Welsh language and culture across our school. Their role is to make learning Welsh fun and encourage everyone to use Welsh words and phrases every day.

What they do:

  • Lead Welsh games and activities during playtimes.

  • Help introduce new Welsh words and phrases to the class.

  • Organise special events like Dydd Gwyl Dewi (St David’s Day) celebrations.

  • Share ideas for making our school a proud Welsh-speaking environment.

The Criw Cymraeg Committee meets regularly to plan exciting ways to celebrate the Welsh language and ensure it is part of daily school life.

School Council

The School Council is a group of pupils elected by their classmates to represent their views and help make our school an even better place. It gives children a voice and the chance to share ideas about school life.

What they do:

  • Collect suggestions and feedback from their classes.

  • Discuss ways to improve the school environment and learning.

  • Help plan events such as charity fundraisers, themed days, and competitions.

  • Share pupil ideas with staff and governors.

  • Promote kindness, respect, and teamwork across the school.

The School Council meets regularly to make decisions that benefit everyone and ensure pupils have a say in what happens in school.
